Xap Corporation to Create Customized Student Services Websites for Tennessee and Kansas Universities
Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association and Kansas Independent College Association Join Growing Roster of Colleges represented by Xap Mentor Sites.
Los Angeles, CA June 12, 2001 Xap Corporation, a pioneer in electronic and Internet-based information management systems for college-bound students, today announced that it has secured contracts to design, develop, host and maintain customized Mentor sites for the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association (TICUA) and the Kansas Independent College Association (KICA).
These schools will join the 18 Mentor sites that are either live or in development by Xap.
The sites, www.TennesseeMentor.org and www.KansasMentor.org, are expected to debut prior to the November admissions deadline to which most schools adhere.
"With the addition of the Tennessee and Kansas Mentor systems, Xap continues to build nationwide access to our student services websites, and we are thrilled with these new partnerships," said Allen Firstenberg, President and CEO of Xap Corporation.
"With today's students spending such a large percentage of their time online, we firmly believe that these new Mentor systems will provide both the Tennessee and Kansas associations, and their member institutions, with excellent outreach opportunities."
Mentor sites, which are exclusively developed by Xap Corporation, are Internet-based, student-centered websites that provide students and their parents a simpler, friendlier and free way to plan for college, apply for admission and explore financial options for their college education.
To date, more than one million students have used Xap products and services.
The company is the first to directly partner with associations and institutions of higher learning to develop regional, university-approved websites.
The Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association represents 35 independent colleges and universities and the Kansas Independent College Association includes 18 independent colleges and universities.
With these additional associations, there are now more than 1,200 campuses across the U.S. represented by Mentor sites.
"Our schools now have an exciting new way to showcase and differentiate themselves from other universities and prospective students can learn more about the choices that are available to them in a manner in which they feel comfortable," said Alan Duesterhaus, Director of Research and Technology at the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association.
Mark Millikan, Communications Director for the Kansas Independent College Association added, "This new Mentor site offers a tremendous opportunity for both our schools and our prospective students."
Students can use Mentor sites to plan ahead for university entrance and academic requirements, research universities and careers, and apply online for admission and financial aid.
Universities also benefit from Mentor sites by having a faster, more efficient and cost-saving method to process applications as well as being able to directly communicate with prospective students.
