Xap Corporation Mentor® Systems Sites Are Top Source for Online College Admissions Applications

More than 1.3 million applications submitted to 800 colleges and universities across the U.S in 2004.

Culver City, CA – March 16, 2005 – Xap Corporation (www.xap.com), the leading developer of integrated web-based student services systems for higher education, reported today that applicants utilized online applications hosted on Xap's Mentor® websites to submit more than 1.3 million applications for admission to undergraduate and graduate programs at some 800 colleges and universities throughout the United States in 2004.

Xap holds a solid niche creating full-service college access sites, known generally as Mentor® websites, available to all accredited post-secondary institutions in certain states and to members of university systems, associations of colleges and universities and community college systems in other states. The sites make available the online tools and resources that facilitate and simplify the process of preparing for college, selecting appropriate institutions, applying for admission, and financing post-secondary education. Among the many services, visitors can explore careers and associated majors, take virtual campus tours, research admissions requirements, identify colleges that best meet their objectives and needs, apply for admission online, explore scholarship and financial aid opportunities, and complete financial aid applications. Certain Mentor® sites also provide test preparation and electronic transcript exchange services.

"Xap's customized applications and data processing technology enables our university clients to electronically manage all aspects of their enrollment process, including receiving and processing admissions data in real time," said Liz Dietz, CEO of Xap Corporation. "The college admission-to-enrollment process is very data intensive, but the flexibility and ease of Xap's systems help to streamline this process and meet a wide range of our clients' enrollment needs."

Among the university clients utilizing the Xap system are the largest four year and two year post-secondary education systems in the country – the California State University system and the California Community Colleges system. In 1996, Xap launched the CSUMentor college website (www.csumentor.edu). The site incorporates information and functionality associated with all 23 CSU campuses, and its popularity has soared each year since its release. To date nearly 1.6 million applications have been submitted to CSU campuses through the site. In 2001, the CCCApply student system (www.cccapply.org) was launched. It currently serves 65 of the California Community Colleges member schools-representing all regions of the state and single-and-multi college districts with small and large enrollments. In 2004, the site received an average of 5,000 visitors daily and more than 390,000 applications were submitted online.

"CCCApply has been one of the most successful centralized applications of technology for the CCC system. It has saved a tremendous amount of money and resources by eliminating the need to develop and maintain a student application portal at each participant's campus," said Patrick Perry, Vice Chancellor, Technology, Research and Information Systems Division for the California Community Colleges, Chancellor's Office. "Furthermore, students can go to a single point of application and get current, uniform information about all the campuses in the CCC system."

"Students and their parents are increasingly comfortable completing the admissions process online. This trend has brought about a solid boost each year in the number of applicants who use our sites and admissions application," said Jessica Wagoner, Director of Client Services for Xap Corporation. "Xap's constantly improving solutions, the result of Xap's interactions with its clients and partners, brings direct benefits to all participants in the college enrollment process, including students, parents, college admissions officers, and registrars."

Xap's sophisticated back-end processing enables university clients to avoid data entry and accompanying need for error correction. In-depth data validations ensure that the information collected on the applications is consistent and free of errors and omissions. Universities and colleges are able to retrieve their data encrypted in real time and in a format compatible with their student information systems. Students save time by using Xap's convenient online forms that automatically populate application fields with appropriate information previously entered into the student's Xap account.
